Angola: Founder of Charismatic Evangelic Church Laid to Rest

Luanda, Angola - The pastor and founder of the International Charismatic Evangelic Church, Afonso Morais de Carvalho, who passed away on Tuesday in the Angolan capital (Luanda) due to illness, was laid to rest this Saturday at Santa Ana cemetery.

Born on June 22, 1941 in the northern Malanje province, Afonso de Carvalho founded the International Charismatic Evangelic Church in Portugal, in 1984, having inaugurated the congregation eight years later (1992) in Angola.

The deceased, who left a widow and three daughters, was the co-founder of the Biblical Society of Angola, together with the retired bishop of the United Methodist Church, Dom Emílio de Carvalho.

In 1975, Afonso de Carvalho was elected as the chairperson of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church in Angola, a post he held until 1977.
