Lawsuit filed over polygamist sect school in B.C.

Vancouver, Canada - A court-appointed accountant is trying to take over a school in Canada run by the polygamous Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which is headquartered on the Arizona-Utah border.

Bruce Wisan, designated by a Utah judge to protect the assets of the church, has filed a lawsuit in British Columbia Supreme Court to get control of the Bountiful Elementary-Secondary School.

Wisan says the litigation stems from a split in Bountiful between followers of jailed FLDS leader Warren Jeffs and supporters of Canadian Winston Blackmore, an ex-member of the church.

Wisan says the lawsuit is intended to achieve a fair distribution of FLDS assets in Canada.
