Boys torch "witch's" house in Limpopo

Limpopo, South Africa - A group of boys torched the house of a 66-year-old woman in Hoedspruit on Wednesday, accusing her of practising witchcraft, Limpopo police said.

Superintendent Moatshe Ngoepe said the house was set alight at about 3am.

"They just arrived, gained entry into the house and pulled the woman out before setting it alight. They believed she was a witch. The suspects fled on foot," Ngoepe said.

He said police were searching for those responsible.

"People should refrain from accusing others of witchcraft. This is dangerous. We will never tolerate this behaviour," he warned.
