Witch hunters to appear in court

Limpopo, South Africa - Fifteen suspected witch-hunters in Limpopo are to appear in the Giyani Magistrate's Court later today, in connection with public violence and arson.

They were allegedly part of a mob that torched around 40 houses of people accused of witchcraft in five villages around Giyani. The victims include a traditional healer, a local priest and a headman.

The violence broke out last month, after the death of three young local soccer players in a car accident. The suspects have been granted bail of R1 000 each. Police are still searching for 27 suspected ringleaders in the witch-hunt violence in the Giyani area.
