Deputy Minister of High Education, Training and Employment Creation Hadino Hishongwa has warned new church organisations not to disturb the peace and order in Namibia.
Hishongwa was speaking to a crowd of young people at the opening of a Junior Chamber Regional Workshop in Oshakati on Monday.
He claimed that some new Church organisations have been established, especially in northern Namibia, which come, not with the Gospel of God, but with a hidden agenda to disturb peace and order in Namibia.
"I think this cannot be tolerated ... and these kind of churches have to be dealt with immediately because they are confusing people and disturb peace and order in the Namibian nation".
The Deputy Minister claimed that some organisations have been telling people, especially young people, not be interested in Government affairs such as the registration of voters; not to vote; and not to participate in national aspects such as belonging to political parties.
He also accused the organisations of encouraging young people to stay out all night, singing and dancing at so-called church premises.
"We have churches here (Elcin, Catholic, Anglican), who have been preaching the real Gospel of God and never disturb the peace and order of the nation as some of these new churches are doing now.
We have to deal with these kind of churches before it is too late," Hishongwa told the gathering.
People who don't register as voters because they do not want to participate in the country's affairs will not receive services from Government, Hishongwa warned, suggesting a law prohibiting such people from receiving Government-related services, including pensions.
"We have all to work together, to participate in Government, social, country affairs in order to build Namibia together," he said.
