Sambo Launches Islamic School Syllabi

Lagos, Nigeria - Kaduna State Bureau for Religious Affairs, IslamicMatters, has launched syllabi for Islamic schools in the state. At the launch in Gwantu, Sanga Local Government Area at the weekend, Governor Namadi Sambo of Kaduna State,commended acting chairman of the council for being the first to launch the syllabi in the state.

Represented by Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Alhaji Balarabe Jigo, Sambo urged followers of all religion to tolerate and value one another., adding that the importance of religious education could not beover-emphasised, and appealed to Islamic schools ito ensure its proper use.

Earlier, Acting Chairman of the council, Mr Bulus Basheri, described religious education as the bedrock for sound morality. Basheri said "any human society that seeks to live in peace and stand the test of time must encourage and promote religious education," and attributed religious crises experienced, particularly in Kaduna State, to ignorance about the tenets of all religions.

He urged religious leaders and instructors to rise to the responsibility of impacting sound education to pupils andstudents. The syllabi was introduced to incorporate Islamic schools into the conventional school system in the country.
