There were dancing and singing of praise to the Almighty God by joyous and gaily dressed members of the Berachah Church of God (The Beginning of the Glorious Church) as they celebrated birth of Jesus Christ on September 9 at Apapa GRA in accordance with the group's tenents.
Head Pastor of the Church, Pastor Godwin Immanuel, told the congregation that God revealed on December 25, 1994, when they were celebrating Christmas that His Son was born on September 9.
In his words, "The Lord then revealed that His Son was born on the 9th day of the 9th month of the year. Although God did not state on the 9th of September, because the calender in use at the timeof his birth was not the same as the current calender. God however directed that in the interim, the birth of Jesus Christ be celebrated on the 9th of September every year pending the advent of the full calender of the Glorious Church."
The Man of God argued that besides the divine revelation which has fixed the authentic date of the birth of Jesus Christ , record revealed that the December 25 is not the date of Jesus birth, expalaining that "there are no less than 136 different opinions as to the year and month Jesus was born. Christian sects have listed every month of the year but it cannot be proved exactly when He was born".
That apart, the cleric also proclaimed that God revealed that He cursed December 25 because that was the day which Lucifer and rebellious angels were cast down to earth adding that on the 9th of September was called Welcome Day because that was the day the world received the Messiah stressing that they would observe two days holidays which are on September 9 and 10.
