Kosovo Draft Law on Religious Freedoms Deemed Ineffective

Serbia-Montenegro (SCG) Foreign Ministry qualified on Wednesday the draft law on religious freedom as a regulation which opposes to such freedom, and voiced expectation that if adopted, UNMIK chief Seren Jessen-Petersen would prevent its implementation.

"The draft bill proclaims Kosovo's state religion, and points to the fact that all dignitaries of the church have to be the citizens of Kosovo," the statement said, underscoring that the draft bill was directly aimed against the Serbian Orthodox Church.
