Russian Orthodox Church, Vatican to set up joint commission

The Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church will set up a joint commission to settle issues they don't agree on.

An agreement to this effect was reached at a Moscow meeting on Thursday between Metropolitan Kirill, who heads the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, and Cardinal Walter Casper, President of the Pontific Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

The idea to set up a commission was generated in the Orthodox-Catholic dialogue six years ago, but has not been implemented yet, Rev. Igor Vyzhanov from the Russian Orthodox Church told Interfax.
