The Russian temporal authorities are taking all efforts for the rapprochement of positions of the Vatican and the Russian Orthodox Church, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with academic circles in Edinburgh on Wednesday.
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II has a positive attitude to this issue, the Russian President stressed. "We expect positive development of relations between the Vatican and the Russian Orthodox Church, he noted.
