The state is being hit with a massive public records request, by a group that questions the legality of a new state prison. The group is called Americans United for Separation of Church and State. Its focus in the new faith-bases state prison in Lawtey.
Governor Jeb Bush dedicated the prison on Christmas Eve. It's for inmates nearing the end of their sentences, and seeking a faith component.
Critics such as the Reverend Barry Lynn aren't sure if the program separates religion and government as mandated in the state and federal constitutions. His group is asking specifics about funding, programs and policies at the new prison.
State officials have said the facility is okay because it's voluntary and is open to people of all beliefs, even those who don't believe in God.
