Indianapolis, USA - In another vote that affects the LGBT acceptance in the church, the Episcopal Church voted on Saturday to allow transgenders to be ordained. This vote comes on the heels of the Presbyterian Church voting against changing the definition of marriage.
The House of Bishops who met at the church’s week long General Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. approved a proposal that would amend two canons that prohibit discrimination based on “gender identity or expression” in the lay or ordained ministry.
The move by the bishops’s overlooks the nearly 200,000 members and 300 parishes that have left the church due to the church’s ‘leftist’ policies. The House of Deputies now must approve the legislation to pass at the convention.
