Jos, Nigeria - A group critical of feared Islamic militants say weekend blasts targeted their leaders in a tense central Nigerian city.
The spokesman of a sect known as Izala said Monday that a bomb went off Saturday night behind its deputy leader's home in Jos. Ahmed Mohammed Ashir said another bomb was detonated Sunday morning near the group leader's house.
Police say no one was hurt.
Izala leaders have criticized a radical Muslim sect known as Boko Haram held responsible for a rash of targeted attacks in northern Nigeria. The weekend blasts have raised fears that it also maintains a presence in the central Nigerian city.
An Internet message attributed to Boko Haram claimed responsibility for blasts that killed at least 32 people in Jos last December, the group's only reported attack on a city already torn by ethnic and religious tensions.
