Episcopal ex-priest gets jail in Pa. abuse case

Montrose, USA - An elderly former Episcopal priest has been ordered to spend more than four years in prison in northeastern Pennsylvania for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

WNEP-TV reports 84-year-old Ralph Johnson was sentenced Thursday to four-and-a-half years in prison as the result of his guilty plea in November.

Prosecutors said Johnson repeatedly assaulted two boys at his home near Gibson in Susquehanna County in the 1990s. Johnson was the pastor at St. Ann's church in Afton, N.Y., at the time of the assaults.

Church officials say Johnson was defrocked as a priest several years before he was charged last year.

Johnson's attorney says his client admitted his guilt and accepts the sentence.
