Police name 9th suspect in Cikeusik Ahmadiyah lynching

Cikeusik, Indonesia - The National Police has named a new suspect in the recent deadly attack on members of the Islamic minority sect Jamaah Ahmadiyah in Cikeusik, Banten, bringing the total number of suspects to nine.

Banten Police arrested the new suspect, “AD”, on Thursday, National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said Friday. Boy added that the latest suspect and “D”, the first suspect from the Ahmadi side, were both residents of Cikeusik.

“So, the latest is that there are two new suspects — AD and D … AD is a Pandeglang resident who was arrested in Banten,” Boy said in Tangerang, Banten, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He added that while both AD and D were residents of Cikeusik, they worked in another district and had only returned home to Cikeusik on weekends.

Boy said AD was charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code on group attacks.
