Uppsala, Sweden - A Swedish artist who angered Muslims by caricaturing the Prophet Muhammad has given a lecture on artistic freedom at a location heavily guarded by police.
Police say there were no disturbances as Lars Vilks spoke in Uppsala, near Stockholm. He was continuing a lecture he had tried to give there on May 11, but it was disrupted by violent protests. That happened when Vilks showed a film about Islam and homosexuality.
About 100 people attended Thursday's lecture after undergoing strict security controls. Dozens of police officers were visible both inside and outside the lecture hall.
Vilks infuriated Muslims in 2007 for portraying Muhammad as a dog. Even favorable images of the prophet are considered blasphemous by many Muslims.
