Banned religious outfit’s activist killed

Karachi, Pakistan‎ - Athar Jadoon was shot dead in the Awami Colony police limits. The SHO of Awami Colony, Zawar Hussain said that, Jadoon was shot at on Thursday afternoon by two armed men riding on a motorcycle while he was sitting outside his house in Sector-28, Korangi Industrial Area.

According to details, Jadoon was an activist of the banned religious outfit SSP and was one of the most senior activists of the group. He was arrested in the year 2000 in Afghanistan then was handed over to the government of Pakistan in 2005 for trial.

Afterwards, he was shifted to Karachi where he was imprisoned for a year and during the trial period he was acquitted from the court and presently running a transport company. Jadoon originated from the Hazara Division.

Sources said that after information was received of Jadoons death, panic gripped different localities of Karachi, and many of the activists and leaders of SSP rushed towards JPMC where they chanted slogans against government bodies and their rival sect.
