Nigeria: Christian Pilgrims to Use E-Passport

Lagos, Nigeria - The FCT Christian Pilgrims will this year commence the use of e-passports to reduce the cases of absconding during the holy pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Israel.

FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Goke Adegoroye, who made this disclosure on Monday in Abuja, said its introduction would go a long way to effectively monitor their movement to and from the holy pilgrimage as well as boost the country's image.

Dr. Adegoroye stated that the FCT Muslim Pilgrims have commenced the use of e-passport, which drastically improved the hajj operations to Saudi Arabia.

He revealed that the FCT would commence the airlift of its pilgrims to Rome, Greece and Israel by October 23, 2010.

According to him, the final payment and remittances to the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) will be by October 5, 2010 and the airlift would be completed by December 23, 2010 to ensure that the entire operation is maintained within this year.
