Former Waco-area pastor's child porn case dropped

Waco, Texas - A judge has dismissed child-porn charges against a former Waco-area minister after prosecutors said they lack sufficient evidence to win a conviction.

Prosecutors also cited a mistrial in an August trial of former Elm Mott Church of Christ pastor Henry Edgington, in which a McLennan County jury voted 9-3 for acquittal. State District Judge Matt Johnson granted the dismissal motion offered by prosecutor Hilary LaBorde.

Waco police say the illegal images were found on Edgington's work computer at the Czech Inn in West, in his car and in a padlocked box in his bathroom.

Edgington, who now lives in the East Texas town of Brookeland, had told investigators that he was doing research to get some Web sites shut down. He and his attorney, Seth Sutton of Waco, both said that he has given up his stated crusade.
