Dera followers stage protest in Moga

Moga, India - Several disciples of Dera Sachcha Sauda sect today staged a protest demanding immediate arrest of those behind the recent killing of a follower in Mansa.

"The law and order situation in the state is fast deteriorating and police have failed to take action against those involved in the killing of dera follower Lily Kumar in Mansa district last week," Balkar Singh, who led the protestors, said.

They alleged failure on part of the Punjab government to provide them protection.

"Our protest is against the failure of the Punjab government to protect lives of the followers in the state," Balkar said.

Their leaders, Balkar and Gurbachan Singh, also submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner to be forwarded to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.

The protesters further alleged that they were not being allowed to perform "Nam Charcha" (religious discourse) in the state.
