Detroit, USA - A federal judge in Detroit has ruled that an outreach center interfered with a man's religious freedom by trying to covert him from Catholicism to Pentecostal.
Joseph Hanas, a former Flint-area man, sued pastor Dwight Rottiers and the Inner City Christian Outreach Center, where he had sought court-ordered treatment for drug abuse.
Hanas' suit claimed the Flint-based Pentecostal preacher and staff took away his rosary and prayer book, and kept him from his family and lawyer.
Rottiers' lawyer Michael Gildner says he would not comment on the judge's ruling, which was issued Friday.
The Detroit Free Press reports that Judge Arthur Tarnow also is expected to award monetary damages in the case to Hanas, who now lives in New Jersey.
