Lahore, Pakistan - A man burnt his daughter to death in Pakistan's central province of Punjab, claiming that she had been transformed into a witch and attacked him, reports said on Friday.
The killer inflicted critical wounds to his 20-year-old daughter, Shagufta, with an axe at Chichawatni town in Sahiwal district Thursday morning, private Geo TV channel reported.
Two of the girl's brothers later built a fire and threw her into the flames. The family told the police that they heard the screams of a witch as Shagufta was burnt alive.
Neighbours were quoted as saying the accused family was superstitious and often consulted so-called spiritual healers.
