Religious Freedom in Azerbaijan to be Regulated by New Law

Baku, Azerbaijan - As the Law “On religious freedom” adopted in 1990, does not meet requirements of present day, Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Republic prepares a new bill, press service of Parliament said.

Chairperson of the Human Rights Standing Committee Rabiyyet Aslanova said the Committee is seriously working on the bill together with the State Committee on Religious Structures, the Clerical Office of the Caucasus Moslems and other relevant structures. The final version of bill is said to be discussed shortly.

Foreign experts also wish to take part in elaboration of bill. The Azerbaijan side does not oppose, however, reminds that the Law should reflect basic principles of state policy of Azerbaijan.
