Blogger given serious warning for posting cartoons of Jesus Christ

Singapore - A blogger has been given a stern warning after posting cartoons of Jesus Christ on his online journal.

Police, in a statement, say they've decided not to prosecute him after careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, in consultation with attorney-general's chamber.

They issued him a stern warning instead, earlier this month.

According to earlier news reports, the 21-year-old had described himself as a free-thinking office worker and had first posted a cartoon of Christ on his blog in January.

The reports say he ignored an online message asking for the cartoon's removal and went on to post more caricatures of Christ to spite the sender.

The blogger could have been jailed for up to three years or fined $5,000 or both if convicted under the Sedition Act.
