Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia - The High Court here has rejected an ex-parte leave application to cite two government officials for contempt of court over the destruction of structures at the Sky Kingdom commune.
Justice Datuk Ahmad Maarop, in his oral judgment, ruled that the applicant, Che Minah Remeli, had failed to prove a prima facie case.
Che Minah is the first wife of Ariffin Mohamad, who is better known as Ayah Pin, the leader of the Sky Kingdom sect.
She filed the application against Besut Land Office administrator Datuk Wan Zahari Wan Ngah and assistant administrator Mohd Iskandar Muhammad Aziz.
Justice Ahmad said he would give his written judgment later.
Outside the court, Che Minah’s lawyer Haris Mohamed Ibrahim said he had received instructions to appeal against the decision.
Che Minah had alleged that the two respondents had failed to abide by a stay order issued by the same court on June 21 last year pending her judicial review application on the land office's directive to tear down the structures.
She said the officers tore down the structures within three hours after a purported inquiry on the case called by the land office on July 31, last year.
