Benin monarch invokes the gods against crime in Edo

Benin, Nigeria - Oba of Benin in Edo State, Omo N’Oba Erediauwa has said his palace is currently tackling the scourge of high crime rate in the state by invoking the spirit of the ancestors.

Ekiadolor Community in Benin kingdom recently witnessed a traditional ritual during which the Oba’s representative led other traditional chiefs in placing a curse on all those involved in perpetrating bloody cult wars at the state owned Ekiadolor College of Education.

The monarch, who held his 26th quarterly chat with newsmen on Thursday said: “My traditionalists, are all working, they all gazing at the traditional computers on how to tackle the situation”.

He recalled a revelation recently by a Church leader in Abuja who envisioned that the growing crime rate in the country is caused by the fact that Nigerians have turned their back on God.

He explained that the pastor’s revelation, which was communicated to him also revealed that the subsisting situation is a deliberate punishment from God.
