Horoscopes and Kaballah charm youngsters more than religion

Horoscopes and mystic cults interest youngsters more than religion, a survey has found.

The survey carried out by the marketing company Tickbox has found that young people tend to have a stronger faith in mysticism than in the Church and the Bible.

Nearly two thirds of the 3000 18- to 24-year-olds questioned, admitted that they believed in the power of horoscopes, compared to just over a third who swore by the Bible.

The findings of the survey conducted for the FX television channel, have re-ignited the concerns in the religious leaders about an emerging inclination among young people towards the 'New Age' beliefs and cults like Kabbalah, which has attracted celebrities like Madonna.

"Horoscopes are fine for a bit of fun and entertainment, but if you take them seriously, they are very dangerous. The Church is aware of its difficulties in reaching young people, and is looking at new ways of attracting them away from misleading concepts like astrology and towards the message of God and the Bible," A Church of England spokesman was quoted by The Telegraph, as saying.
