Falun Gong practitioner feels no remorse

Falun Gong practitioner Fu Yibin says he feels no remorse for killing his father and wife and regrets only that he failed to kill his mother during a recent rampage. Fu, 46, who has been detained in Beijing, learned from the TV that his mother survived the attack.

"It is the will of Heaven," Fu said. "If I had choked her for a longer time, she would have died and would not endure the hardships of this life."

Police caught Fu as he chopped up his father and wife and badly injured his mother with a kitchen knife on November 18 in a Beijing apartment building.

Fu, who began to practise Falun Gong in 1998, confessed he committed these evil acts at his parents' home after "realizing" that they "had to depart."

He said that a woman named Yang Cuiyun introduced him to Falun Gong when they met at a local shop in early 1998.

Following that meeting, Fu read many books on Falun Gong and watched videos made by Falun Gong leader Li Hongzhi every night for a week.

"Falun Gong helps me reach the other shore of space in terms of knowledge about the universe," Fu said. "After seeing space covered with gold bricks, people will feel that this world is too dirty."

A brainwashed Fu added: "I have cultivated 'morality,' and I will cultivate 'mercy.' In order to achieve 'mercy,' I must first kill."

Yang, who said she quit Falun Gong in 1999, was shocked by Fu's murderous acts.

Some other former Falun Gong practitioners say if they had continued to practise Falun Gong, they also might have been involved in such a tragedy.

Wei Min, a former cult member in Beijing, said that Falun Gong ignores the dignity of the individual and leads people to such deviant extremes that its practitioners are driven to commit suicide or murder.

Li Huiyun, a teacher of the Hebei Science and Technology University, who has given up Falun Gong, said that when she was practising in 1998, she had an impulse to kill her 8-year-old son to help him get into heaven.

Li said Fu Yibin killed his father and wife because of the evil cult.

Zhang Honglin, a researcher of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute, said Falun Gong uses a form of mind control similar to hypnotism to manipulate its practitioners.

He said that Fu Yibin is both a murderer and a victim. But, he insisted, the real murderer is Li Hongzhi.

The Falun Gong cult has now caused the deaths of more than 1,700 practitioners. Although the cult has been banned in China, its leaders in foreign countries use the Internet and other means to control followers and prompt them to act in destructive ways.
