A WOMAN accused of viciously bashing her 87-year-old great-aunt believes she is Jesus Christ, a court heard today.
Brisbane solicitor Neil Lawler said he had been instructed by his client, Juliet Elizabeth Mills, 26, to tell Brisbane's Magistrates Court of her beliefs.
"I am in a bit of a spot ... she says that she is Jesus Christ and she not only believes this but knows this to be true," Mr Lawler told the bail hearing.
Mr Lawler said Ms Mills had given him strict instructions before the bail hearing to convey her beliefs and explain that she believed she was Christ and was a "healer".
He said Ms Mills was prepared to tell the court herself if he had been unwilling to do so.
Ms Mills is to be mentally assessed at the request of the police.
Mr Lawler also told the court: "She has no psychiatric illness and her doctors in Sydney say that."
Ms Mills is accused of robbing and attempting to murder her great-aunt Audrey Florence Thompson on June 30 in a house at Windsor in Brisbane.
Miss Thompson suffered extensive head and chest injuries and remains in a critical but stable condition in Royal Brisbane Hospital.
The retired teacher was found lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen of her Rosemount Terrace unit last Wednesday after neighbours heard noises between 7.30am and 9.30am.
Magistrate Jim Herlihy refused bail and remanded Ms Mills in custody until a committal mention on August 30.
She is charged with attempted murder, robbery with violence, entering a dwelling with intent, and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
No plea was entered.
