Major religious groups to jointly celebrate new year and promote bonding

A group comprising Singapore's different religious and racial groups is jointly organising an event to celebrate the New Year.

The aim is to promote community bonding.

The group said since Buddhists, Muslims and Hindus celebrate their new years in the first quarter it's timely for a joint celebration.

The event will be held on the 15th and 16th of March opposite the Bishan Amphitheatre.

Some 100,000 coupons at $5 each will be sold and the proceeds will go to help charities and the Education Trust Fund.
