The official death toll in religious riots that broke out late last month in India's Gujarat state climbed to 706.
The figure is expected to rise as authorities continue to discover bodies across the region.
The death toll includes 62 Hindus killed when a Muslim mob set fire to their train outside the town of Godhra on February 27.
The remaining dead are mostly Muslims, who were hacked or burned alive as mobs of Hindus armed with swords, truncheons and rocks sought retaliation for the train attack in many parts of the western state.
Police have arrested approximately 4,000 people across Gujarat, the state's Police Control Room said.
At least 2,015 houses, 1,900 shops and 910 vehicles were burned and more than 680 shops were ransacked, police said.
Ahmabadad, the commercial capital of Gujarat and the city hit hardest by the rioting, was is currently quiet but incidents of stone throwing are reported in one neighbourhood.
