Kerala church vandalised

Miscreants Wednesday vandalised a Christian church here, burning drapery and furniture.

The miscreants had apparently entered the 75-year-old St. Thomas Church belonging to the Mar Thoma sect by breaking open a door around 8:30 p.m. after the priest had gone home.

The drapery on the altar and chairs and some other furniture were burnt, said eye-witnesses.

Local residents were alerted by the fire inside the church. Police have begun investigation.

Only last week a group of nuns belonging to the Sisters of Charity were attacked in a place near Kozhikode in northern Kerala.
