Luweero Rejects Sh60m From U.S. Gay Diocese

Luweero Diocese has rejected sh60m from an Episcopal diocese in the US because of its acceptance of the installation of gay bishop Gene Robinson last year.

Luweero Archbishop Evans Mukasa Kisekka said this on Sunday during a diocesan meeting.

"We asked for the funding in 2001 to rehabilitate the cathedral and build a conference hall.

"They promised to support us and sh60m has been placed on our account, but because they accepted the installation of a gay bishop, we have decided not to use the money," Kisekka said

He said three parishes in Los Angeles, St. James, All Saints and St. David, have rallied behind Luweero's decision not to support the installation.
