Liberia: Taylor bans church radio station

The authorities in Liberia have banned a Catholic Church-run radio station from broadcasting outside the capital, Monrovia.

Liberian rights groups have condemned the prohibition as an attempt silence all but President Charles Taylor's voice outside Monrovia.

The BBC correspondent in Monrovia says Mr Taylor's privately-owned Kiss FM is now the only Liberian station broadcasting political news, via short wave, beyond the capital.
