A woman who rejected her nomination to serve a local deity in Nigeria's southeast Enugu state on the grounds of her Christian faith, has been sentenced to death by worshippers of the idol, the private Comet newspaper reported today.
The paper said the woman, Esther Ekediegwe, was picked via an "unconventional ballot" last year to serve in the shrine of "Odo" at Amaozalla community in the state.
