Maccido Urges Faithful to Spread Islam

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Maccido III, has called on Muslims all over the world to give total support to the development and promotion of Islam.

The call was made by in Sokoto at the celebration of this year's Eid-el-Maulud, Prophet Mohammad's birthday.

He reminded Muslims of their responsibilities noting that the propagation of Islam and its development was a responsibility bestowed on all faithful irrespective of race.

He called on well-to-dos, philantropists and Muslim organisations to ensure proper development and promotion of the faith.

Sultan said "God created man in order to worship him" noting that in appreciation of this we should worship him according to the divine injunction.

At the state level, he called on Muslims to assist in the various projects of the Jama'atu Nasrl Islam (JNI) in the efforts to propagate the religion of Islam in Sokoto State.

He commended the good efforts and initiative of the Attahiru Bafarawa administration towards the promotion of Islam in the state adding that all local governments in Sokoto State should follow the good step.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Bafarawa, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wammakko, said the promotion of Islam was the general responsibilities of all Muslims."

He, called on Muslims, in the country to endeavour to contribute their quota towards the propagation of Islam.
