C&S Ordains 1,600 Prophets

The Cherubim and Seraphim Church Movement ended its 2003 annual "Mount Horeb" retreat in Kaduna at the weekend with a total of 1,600 members ordained new prophets and prophetesses.

Head of the clergy, Prophet Andrew Adekunle Adebayo, who spoke with reporters said that Nigeria would still endure many more years of unstable political, socio-economic and religious upheavals.

He explained that a country must pass through a period of 100 years of turbulence, after its political independence, "after which the country will begin to experience stability in the polity.

According to him, "historically, no nation has achieved independence without experienncing a revolution later and after that, peace and happiness will prevail. "But we pray that God reduces the period of Nigeria's turbulence, we have already done 43 years."

He said that the annual "Mount Horeb" retreat was designed to offer prayers for peace to reign in the country and the world over.

According to him, prior to the recent general elections in the country, leaders from his church had embarked on a seven-day fasting and prayers and "that is why we had hitch-free elections."

About 7,000 members of the movement participated at the retreat which took place on the outskirts of Kabala-Doki, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis.
